Overall its a good buy for the price , the radio is of decent quality- I just cant figure out how to program it

This is the best ive had so far. For the pice its worth very bit you spend. I'm able to talk up to 50+ miles. Uess it helps I only live 17 miles from th repeater we all use in this area. Anyone looking to buy cheap and talk with the big boys. Get you one. It will open up a wole new world for you.

This is actually a decent radio. The only downfall is the learning curve, but that is a personal problem and the ease of use stars are ONLY my use. Buy this transceiver in a heartbeat. You can’t beat it.

Outstanding radio for the price point. I am definitely ordering a second and possible third Baofeng BF-F8HP. I also ordered a Baofeng model BL-5L extended battery as well. Very happy with both purchases.

This F8HP is one of seven BaoFeng radios I bought through Amazon. The other six were model type UV5R. Despite the clutter of homes and factories in my area, this unit still connects with my other BaoFengs up to 2 Km away. But you have to use the long antenna and get out of your car for that range. I'm sure it could do more, especially if the line of sight is clear of obstacles. I'm now contemplating a base station in my home with an appropriate aerial to stay in touch with the farm and beach house - after legalizing, of course.

Stick with me, I need to qualify my response.I bought what I thought was the strongest Walkie on the mkt, a 50 miler by Uniden.Sure, it's strong, but I live in the mountains and everywhere you go is another canyon or hill/mountain, so they were pretty much worthless beyond a 1000'.The wife and I struggled with them on the property, creek to house 1000' away, had to find the perfect spot to stand to talk.After months of research I decided to buy the Beofang, and I'm beyond impressed. Now it doesn't matter where she walks, the signal comes through crystal clear, as if she were next to me.We did a little experiment, she drove to town, about ten miles away, crossing the American river and several mountains in between, about 2000' below my elevation, came in so clear, just like she was in the room.I give it 5 stars for actually working perfectly and beyond my expectations, but a few less for functionality, needs an easy squelch control but only when you're near electrical equipment.Also, it has a serious learning curve beyond simply turning it on and talking, referring to programming, but I only just bought it.Other than that, buy it, you won't regret it, I can't say enough good about it.I can only imagine just how well this would do on flat open ground, I'm guessing 50 miles wouldn't be a challenge.

For the $$$$ you can't go wrong...

Radio is easy to learn with a little practice. Decent build quality with ok battery life which can be extended with the larger battery. Do get the programing cable as it is much easier to input frequencies via computer.
