Liked that I could hit the repeaters from my yard. negative is it needs a longer antenna. other wise ok with it. Need to let people know they need a ham license.

My standard box battery lasted about 3 days with a full charge running on half power, non-stop. It sounds like you'd expect it to sound. And it's pretty easy to use, and it's easy to learn to use. I'd recommend getting a different antenna for it for better range.

Story short, the f8hp is a major upgrade in reception sound quality already compared to the uv5r. Haven't had a chance to really test transmit on either unit as I'm awaiting my tech license.

I have bout about six of these and handed them to family and neighbors. It will be great for SHTF situations. They are awesome ! If I could get it past my wife, I would buy many more.
