I am always satisfied with radios I buy from Btech. Not only do they warranty their products, they service and sell accessories pertinent to Amateur Radio. They are good radios and American service and warranted. I have 3 now. Two dual band and 1 triband HT's. I am quite happy. I recommend their line of Nagoya antenna. ESPECIALLY, the 771 and 320a.

The price and how well it workd, and was very easy to program with my computer. I use it on the ham bands only.

Excellent starter transceiver. Not water resistant and made of plastic but does pretty much everything I want out of a basic handheld. Get the Nagoya Tri band antenna the stock rubber ducky sucks on an SWR meter

Really the good part to this radio is the price. It tunes to channels, scans through in a decent manner, and I can hear people over it. I have not transmitted much on it so I don't know how it's range competes with similar radios, but it does function. The one glaring issue is the ear pieces that come with it are cheap, and very fragile. If you want a cheap starter radio that maybe you don't mind if your kid breaks it, this is probably the one. Just don't expect an amazing quality piece of engineering masterpiece.

The UV-5x3 was the first radio I purchased and used as a new Ham. Over the past year, it has proven reliable and is a great little radio! I just used it today as the UHF receiver in a satellite QSO. The satellite QSO employed a BTECH DMR 2x6 as the VHF transmitter (7watts) and a dual band VHF/UHF Arrow II Yagi antenna. Imagine a QSO with a ham in Florida using just a 7 watt, handheld radio that was able to reach the SO-50 FM satellite repeater! The BTECH UV-5x3 was able to receive a signal from a repeater satellite that was using a a 250 mW UHF transmitter! Fine business!

I purchased this radio primarily for emergency use (during natural disasters such as Harvey) and, secondarily, to begin a new hobby as a ham radio operator. Up until six weeks ago, I had never heard of BaoFeng or BTECH. Nor did I think it was possible to begin a new hobby relatively inexpensively. While I study for my Technician's license, I spend time listening to the different operators in Houston and reacquainting myself with ham "lingo." Sound quality is good and battery life in listen-only mode is excellent. I've already purchased the high-capacity 3800 mAH battery and a short stubby VHF/UHF aftermarket antenna. With the built-in flashlight and ALARM function, you will be hard-pressed find a more suitable communications device for emergencies. And the frequently-updated CHIRP programming software makes it easy to customize the UV-5X3 for your personal needs. Bonus: access to the 220 MHz band.

Purchased to use only on 220mhz. Radio performs well with dedicated 220 antenna. Easy to program with Chirp and works like every other BTECH radio I have used. Would definitely recommend to my friends, actually have, as an inexpensive way to get on 220mhz. Good deal.

Great Solid little radio. The key is having the programming software. Fortunately you can get CHIRP free and the cable is under $10 if you look
