Excellent first tri-band radio Ham handset- lots of how to videos and references online. Would’ve been neat to have a slightly higher watt option like some of the dual band units. I would also like HF frequencies as well ;)

I was surprised how good the build quality and the screen were. I was skeptical of these cheap Chinese radios, but I like it so far.

This brand is making a big name for itself, and for good reason. All the features, great build quality & performance, yet easily under the other named prices. I have bought several of these & continue to recommend them. I thought it was great before, and now it's a tri-bander. wow!With a charging plate back, and a speaker-mic, it makes a perfect mobile radio, stashed inside the center console.Radio comes with 2 antennas: 2m/7cm and separate 1.25cm antenna, not a tri-band antenna. Buy that separately if you don't mind the tri-band antenna length.Only caveat: the switching supply charger stand emits lots of RF noise. Unplug it when not charging.

Really difficult to beat for the price. There are better tri-band handhelds out there, but not for nearly as cheap as this.

These radios are small yet powerful. I use them as part of a tactical system with several teams. Having 3 bands to work with is great since the same bands are used in our communications truck which has dedicated high powered mobile transceivers. I understand that our California Militia uses them also. We are stressing the need for all our operators to become licensed in the Amateur Radio Service.It might be nice if the radios could be type accepted for use on the GMRS channels.Overall I am very pleased with these radios.

Good radio. I have no problems with it so far. Getting Chirp software was not so easy since the BeofandTech.com site does not work and the the down load from Beofang's site does not work at all. I got a third party version of chirp soft ware and after I got the sync cable to work everything went well.

Excellent radio. Nice to have semi-private frequencies on 1.25 meters (in this area).

I bought this for my 11 year old grandson. It came very quickly after I ordered it. He and I are both studying for the Technician Class license together and it has been a wonderful opportunity to interest him in the world of science and steal him away from the oft seen obsession with video games and social media that so many kids now find themselves in addiction. The fact that this 3 band radio will admit him to Technician Class bands as a first radio once he obtains his Call sign is terrific. My consideration was that this would be an incentive for him to continue studying and prepare for the test so that he can transition from just listening to being an avid participant utilizing both receive and transmit functions. It will allow him to wade into the field and we can continue with more expensive equipment later. I purchased it as a Christmas gift and we celebrated Christmas early due to his dad's job requirements. The grandkid's response was as expected... he is energized and can't wait to take the license test.

Only issue that I didn't consider in advance is that I've got to carry a second antenna. The 145/440 antenna doesn't work with the 1.25m band. Similarly, the 220 antenna doesn't work with 2m or 70cm bands The radio does include both antennas.
