Out standing radio for price. You can programs all the functions PC or manually. Scanning setup is easy. It has a lot of improvements over the older radios. I do recamend the large capacity battery.

Purchased this to get some idea of what ham radio was all about. Works very well for that purpose, although it works better with the longer antenna. The user's manual is fairly complete and easy to understand and, although everything on the face of the radio is pretty small, it doesn't take long to become familiar with how it works. A good value for the price.

I've had the radio one month and so far so good. It wasn't the easiest to program with CHIRP but I managed. I think it had more to do with the instructions of the website. the radio works fine and it's loud and clear. It's perfect for its intended use, a small portable radio for emergency use and an excellent starter radio. I can hear local FM radio broadcasts, which is good during emergencies. It's very small, light and easy to carry. It comes with a lanyard, two antennas, battery, belt clip, and earpiece. Instruction manual is decent but you need to know "tech talk" to know what everything is (at least for me, I'm new to Ham radio). I found YouTube (hoshnasi) and (David Casler) helpful for this as well as setting up. I bought the NA-3201 antenna with it and when assembled there's a gap in between the antenna and radio. There's a rubber gasket that comes with the antenna that is used but I thought it would cover the gap, instead it seals between the radio and antenna but still leaves the gap open to collect dust and debris. Once i get my ham license and get more familiar with it I'll post an update.

Excellent bang for the buck entry level talkie. This is my fourth Baofeng/Btech talkie and no issues with any of them. The addition of the 220 mHz band makes this one a real game changer. I've been an Amateur Radio operator for 40 years and have owned talkies made by all of the "big 3" Japanese companies and these little guys hold their own at a bargain basement price..

I love this radio. Had nothing but rave reviews with it's ability to reach out and "touch" a repeater. Also, programming was easy using the free "CHIRP" software and the not so CHEAP USB cable you have to purchase. But anywayzs....This radio does exactly what it claims to do and for the most part is perfect: here's my only fault..SIZE! Give me a break, is this made for children? I'm by no means a large man, as I'm of average size but dang, I've seen toys bigger than this. Also, I have average sized fingers/hands and it's still difficult to press the correct button without very slow and well aimed coordinates. ;)Perhaps it's just because I'm old but this is a tiny radio. I recently ordered a full sized version of this from baofeng that is of a normal person's hand size. It's not tri-band but will meet my needs. (UV-82HP)What will I do with this radio? I defiantly will keep it as it's a great radio. I will just not be using it on a daily basis as for the afore mentioned reason.Would I recommend this radio? Definitely! I only hope that BTECH will make a "normal" person's size of it in the future. I know, "small" is the thing now but after adding an aftermarket antenna (to make it really reach out), it's not so small anymore.

As a radio novice, I'm getting familiar with the operation and characteristics of this nice tri-band radio. Compact and well made, this radio isn't expensive for the quality and is nice for a novice as myself. I've started manual programming and exploring the use of a computer to program.

A great little radio. It has all the features I could have wanted and for the price, it is good quality. They packed a LOT of radio in that little package.

It's a nice little tri-band radio. I also bought the PC-03 programming cable, and the Nagoya NA-320A tri-band antenna. The menu system on the UV-5X3 isn't very intuitive, so programming channels with the cable and the free CHIRP software is almost a requirement to getting up and running quickly. This radio ships with 2 rubber duck antennas, 1 for 2m & 70cm, and 1 for 1.25m. The Nagoya works on all bands, and performed much better than the rubber duck antenna for me on 2 meters at 4 miles in an urban area.
