BF-UV5R (third generation UV-5R) 5W dual-band two-way radio (136-174MHz VHF and 400-520MHz UHF) 1800mAh long battery life (USB connector)
SKU: GW50.0007
The BTECH UV-5X3 arrived in good packaging and on-time as usual. So far, the radio has been performing flawlessly on receive, waiting on my ham license test before I can comment on send capabilities. I was impressed with the instructions, expecting some very small booklet with small writing with poor descriptions. What I got was a large booklet of clear instructions in fonts which were large enough to read! Very rare these days. If transmit works as well as receive functions, I will be truly impressed with this radio.

I had bought two radios, and found one to be bad. I requested a replacement and received it with in several days, even before the estimated date. I hadn't even sent back the faulty radio yet.Like it is stated, make sure you buy from Baofeng store. Thanks !

These radios are difficult to program. It’s usually a cable issue or software problem. Very little support available. You get what you pay for.

I love this radio. It is a great upgrade to my 1st radio which is a UV5R. I get better range all the way around with this unit which is roughly the same size, and only a bit bigger. The company supplying this also has some other great accessories that I use with my setup, and with great service as well. They have some other components that I will be getting to support my radio setup.

This very light radio seem sensitive and has good output power. However, it does not do well when there are other nearby signals, even on other bands and less than a 1 watt.

This is the second BaoFeng that I have bought. That doesn't mean that I like them, it just means that the price to issues ratio is acceptable. And, hoo boy, as usual, this HT has issues:1. The radio is advertised as having access from 220 to 260MHz. Not so, it only does 220-225MHz. Sure, 225.001 to 260MHz is out-of-band, but it would have been nice to be able to LISTEN to them. It's the main reason why I bought it!2. I confirmed through testing that the battery charge indicator is non-functional. Every BaoFeng that I have ever used or bought has had this issue. I believe that this is not a bug. The indicator is merely there for show only. Be warned, people! Don't rely on the indicator; swap in spare batteries on a schedule.3. Not really an issue, but this HT boots up more slowly than all of my previous radios by 50%. Either this model has a slower processor or the firmware is expanded, probably the latter.4. The Btech branded CH-5 Charger that's provided will only charge Btech branded batteries, not third-party batteries. That would crimp me except that I have other chargers that I can use instead of the one provided. Again, be warned, people! In closing, all I can say about this average radio is that the price is right and it is "good enough" for now. Or, as the Chinese put it: Chabuduo. Caveat emptor, says I.
