BF-UV5R (third generation UV-5R) 5W dual-band two-way radio (136-174MHz VHF and 400-520MHz UHF) 1800mAh long battery life (USB connector)
SKU: GW50.0007
BTECH stocked all of the individual comms items I needed for my mission set, provided them at a fair price, and shipped everything together and fast. Couldn't ask for more and would buy again without thinking twice.

This is a nice radio for the money. even though I am an Extra Class Ham I don't get on the air very often. I know it wont last 25 years like my Icom did but that is ok.

Like the radio. Battery does last longer than the older 1 I have. Can't program it because I don't have a degree in computers or electronics.

Not so easy to program, but using the data cable and CHIRP it programs and can be used.Great for first or second HT unit, but it does have issues, like S L O W scanning. Can it be used - YESLow cost and does the job nicely.Good for a first unit, great for a field day.

So the radio is great. Works great and I can talk to my other UV-5R at distances way beyond what I thought I could. I’ve used plenty of regular walkie talkies in the past where they advertise “22 mile range” and you’re lucky to get a couple hundred yards before they start dropping out. With upgraded antennas, we were at 2.5 miles direct line through thick and heavy woods and it was coming through clear as a bell. There are plenty of videos out there of people with the stock antenna getting close to 10 miles in open mountainous areas, which I actually believe now having used it.HOWEVER (and this is a BIG however), the main reason I bought this radio over the regular UV-5R is the 8 watts vs 5 watts. After installing an antenna on my vehicle and checking the SWR, the digital meter read 4.4 watts max on the 2m band and 3.5 watts max on the 70cm band. And yes, I made sure transmit power was set to “high”. So I certainly wouldn’t spend the extra $50+ to get an extra non-existent 3 watts.

Great radio for beginners. I wanted a means to communicate with family in the event the cell service is interrupted. With the covid virus lockdowns and political climate in today’s world I decided to equip myself and family members with a reliable means to communicate. Only gave it four stars because the package did not contain a programming cable. The extra capacity battery is to fat to confidently use the cheap belt clip so I bought a 3800 to replace it. Overall a good radio.

Excellent radio for the price. I use mine as a scanner and it was above expectations I’m sold on your product

Radio works well enough. The BTECH radio came with a Pofung charger which died after a couple of charges. I won't be buying anymore of these radios. Very unimpressed. The Yaesu FT60R blows this thing away. It's not even close. Stick with the big three Japanese radio companies if you need a radio for an emergency.

This is a well reviewed entry level radio with many features. You should look at available accessories, IMO particularly longer antenna than OEM. The radio is amazingly small (check dimensions) and if that is a problem, you may whish to also get a BL-5L 3800mAh Battery which not only provides longer power but increases the length of overall radio. You may wish to also check the Btech (BaofengTech) site for other available items.
