This microphone works great with my Olympus LS-P1 small digital recorder. The background noise increases noticeably when the boost option is used, but I suspect that should be expected. I've used the microphone to record birds calling in the early morning, almost always not in a direct line of sight or within not less than 50'. It does a very good job, and at minimal cost.

Purchased to use as a mic with a Canon and turned out great - had to film a virtual music audition - quality sound and easy to use.

For the price, you can't match it. It is not a Rode, but it sounds pretty comparable, and makes audio that is a dream to work in post with. I have done multiple 8 hour film days, and so far have not drained the battery at all. This mic has been turn it on and forget it for the rest of the day. Very reliable on film days.

I've tried a few mics in this price range recently, and this is the best by far. I've found battery powered mics to have the best pickup and least noise over the USB mics I've tried. They also have the advantage of working with most cameras, phones and sound recorders so better flexibility there. Sound quality is very clean no hum, very little hiss at high gain, even with the 10dB boost. The lowpass filter is effective at removing machine noise but you do lose some sharpness in the highs. I use this mic for vocal recording with the included ball head on a mic stand, but it's so lightweight I'll definitely be using it for any location shooting as well. Windscreen works well and I've not noticed any noise from the vibration mount rubbing as some have noted.

First off let me say the quality of the sound from this microphone is amazing, I'd say its better than rode mics. The only down fall is the metal flaps that hold the batteries in place breaks extremely easy.... I'm on my fourth mic in 2.5 because of this issue.

This mic has a great natural sound to it, especially at around the 1-2 feet away mark. Very little audio manipulation needs to be down to get this into a great usable place. Very satisfied with my purchase. 10/10
