Very good portrait lens (at APS-C this corresponds to a 75mm/1.8 equivalent). Of course, you can use it for many other subjects, but I think that's a focal length that's especially good for the human figure. It's small and light, so no problem to take it with you when traveling and use it when you need a glowing lens. It's quite good even at f.1.8 and you can use it at full aperture without any problems, although the maximum quality is around f.4 or 5.6. Good bokeh. The AF precision and speed on my A6000 is very good (and aesthetically I like the matte silver finish with the black camera). I had an issue with shipping but Amazon sorted it out quickly so finally everything was fine.

Very bright with both smaller and larger apertures. I can't see any apperations or visible blurring at the edges of the a6000 at large apertures. The lens has a very pleasant bokeh at small and medium apertures. Stronger or weaker depending on the aperture size. The OSS works perfectly and the AF is also very accurate in most cases, even with little light. The large, tactile manual focus ring is as precise as it is stable. (means that the focus stays the same as you set it without slipping) All in all, a clear purchase recommendation from me.

Actually, I was already satisfied with my SEL1650, but at some point I just had to try a fixed focal length. I have informed myself sufficiently about this lens in various forums. It's perfect for my purposes. The speed of the autofocus is enough for me, I don't want to take sports photos with the lens. On my Sony Alpha 6000 I have now sent the kit lens to slumber. In addition to the SEL-50F18, I also bought the SIGMA 16mm 1.4. So I covered the wide angle and portrait range. For zoom shots I still have the SEL-55210 and I don't need more.

I'm really excited and at first I thought that I would rarely have the lens on my camera and now I "catch" myself using it more and more often. For the 50mm focal length on my Sony A6000, I actually have a manual Zeiss Planar 1.4 50 (with Contax bayonet), which also performs fantastically and is actually my favorite lens in terms of characteristics. But it happens to me again and again that when I focus with the aperture fully open, I don't get 100% sharpness. And with that, the idea of a narrow depth of field with nice bokeh is lost. So I bought this AF lens. Even if it doesn't come close to the old Zeiss Planar in terms of its image characteristics - this Sony is a perfect AF alternative for people shots for a fairly reasonable price. For stils I still like to use the manual Zeiss...
