Who doesn't love hunting for treasure?! My kids have seen other people walking the beach with these and I finally surprised them with this so they could find some treasures of their own. They do find a surprising amount of coins and they've found some cheapy chains and rings that must've been lost at the beach. My sons best find is a ferrari die cast toy car! Would've been nice for the real thing, but he's just as pleased with the toy ;).
Setup was super easy, two minutes tops. If you're like me and prefer to watch your directions there is a quick video with the product images. The trick is to scan close to the ground, no more than 10 inches above, and keep the search coil hovering straight instead of leaning to a side. There are 4 modes to choose from and the headphones are nice to focus when there's a lot going on in the background. The stem is adjustable and the detector comes ready to use with 2 9v batteries. I can see our family getting a lot of use out of this, highly entertaining for both kids and adults! Happily pleased!

OK, first off at the price point DO NOT expect Garrett level detection and discrimination and be realistic that this will take fine tuning and practice to get a feel for where it can shine and where it lacks. From my testing with it so far it seems to be right around where my Bounty Hunter performs and that is what I would expect for this detector. I tested several items at several depths and in short it does discriminate fairly well and usually does a fairly good job of approximately identifying what you're hitting at depth of 4" or less, once you go deeper it starts to fumble the IDs pretty hard and at 8"+ it starts fumbling even detecting. I did everything from modern US pocket change, morgan silvers, actual roman era denarii, 10k gold ring, and 14k 10" gold bracelet along with trash like nails, cut up aluminum can, and bottle caps. If there is a lot of trash or the trash is bigger than the item it struggles. But if the item is lone it's pretty accurate. All in all at the price, it performs along my level of expectation. If you have a Garrett budget or bigger go better but if you have a small budget I don't think you will be disappointed with this!

You are not just getting a metal detector here - you're getting a case, a small shovel, headphones etc. Everything you need to get started.
I'm not a metal detector hobbyist. I got this because I do a lot of elaborate decorating for Halloween and Christmas. We've had problems with things getting "lost" in the yard. Metal stakes that got partially buried, electrical wires lost in underbrush, etc. I had a small cheap "kids" metal detector that I would use to track these down. My old kids metal detector didn't work very well and finally broke. Time for an upgrade.
This is so far superior to what I had before. This is almost overkill for what I need, but it is affordably priced. It works great. I have used this several times to track down metal items lost in the yard.
The instructions are great. The quality is great. The "extras" are quite nice. This would be perfect for someone wanting to get into the hobby.

This is a very sturdy detector. The only issue i found is how confusing the screen is and what it’s finding. You need the directions in hand to figure it out. Not for a first timer

Excellent metal detector, I bought this for a child, he is looking for treasures on the beach, there is a handy shovel in the set.

I’ve always wanted one and received as a present. So awesome. Easy assembly comes with case and headset. Works great. Light to carry.
